Well 18 years ago today I received an unbelievably beautiful love note from my husband that he read to me. The sweetness with the note ended there. He kept it. I guess he didn't want any proof of the fact that he could be that sweet. 18 years ago today I tried to pass off my mom's famous sugar heart cookies with her famous icing as my own. I won David!!
Fast forward 18 years and here we are. Meemom made me her famous heart cookies which I am hoarding and don't want to share AT ALL! David planned a picnic for him, myself, Elle and my mom across the street (at a playground) for my lunch break. That way Elle could play while we eat and he could have lunch with his 3 favorite girls. He almost made me cry with that sweet, sweet idea.
So much has changed in 18 years yet not the important stuff. My husband is still amazing. My heart still skips a beat when I see him. I am a very, very lucky girl to have found the love of my life so young. I am 34 years old and him been with him for 18 years. You do the math. That is more than half of my life. More time with him than without. Our lives are so intertwined. We have grown together. It is a truly beautiful thing. Do we have our ups and downs? Absolutely!! I'll be the first to tell you that. Yet, nothing can ever change what we do have. Our love, our friendship, our commitment to each other.
We have graduated from high school and college. We lived apart the whole time we were in college. Trips to and from Lubbock and Austin. Wow, I don't miss those days. We did a lot of growing/changing as individuals. DMB moved to Austin when he graduated from college. We had the time of our lives. We decided to "live in sin" and make sure we were ready for the next step. Those were some of the best years. Just the boy and I. No stress in our lives. Living the ATX life. Blues shows on a Tuesday night, Gourds shows at Jovitas, Migas and Fajitas at Trudy's with Mark every Sunday. In the summer of 2003 we moved to Htown so that David could go to law school. I got a teaching job in Galveston and we began a new stage in our lives. In 2004 we got married. January of 2006 we moved to Galveston and started another new stage in our lives. Young professionals, we bought a house and began creating our life here. In 2008 Elle was born and our lives changed forever. We created a person. We started our family. In May, Lily will be born. So much has happened in the past 18 years and there is NO ONE else on this planet that I would want to have done this with NO ONE!! I can't wait to see what the future holds for my boy and I! Happy Valentine's Day David- I love you
My life as the queen bee in a house with two princesses, my prince charming, a cat and 3 dogs.

One Way to My Heart
David returned from a conference in Houston yesterday evening with a bottle of Stella in my hand. I have gone without my favorite perfume for a few months now and it was killing me. Thanks Dad, I love it! How thoughtful and sweet you are

Pre-Dinner Convo At The Buerg House
Let me set the scene. Elle is super stoked to see her Daddy. She gets an extra boost of energy when she sees him for the first time in the evening. Tonight I was prepping dinner and I see Elle plowing through the house like Elin Woods. Whacking everything in sight with her new golf clubs (kudos to meemom). She loves these clubs. As her Daddy looks at her he very calmly explains. " Elle, I don't think you are ready for golf. He then takes the club and hides it. Not a minute later. I hear. "Hey. Dude, where did you get that driver" As Elin, I mean Elle began "golfing" again. Never a dull moment and I love every minute of it!

Daddy's Girl
Elle has a new found obsession with her Daddy. I mean she has always loved him but this it taking it to a whole new level. Every time that he leaves the room she calls for him. She wants to know where he is at all times. She thinks about him often. Looking for him. She just can't help herself when she is around him. She grabs him and hugs him so tight right before planting a big old kiss on him. I know he is pretty irresistible! You are a lucky girl to have such a great daddy baby elle. He loves you so much Pooty J.

You must enter the cave to play poker
A long long time ago, when Onion and Clay still lived at 1205 Marine (Boy do i miss those days), the boys talked about making the garage into a poker room. At first I was completely against it. I thought all of this talk seemed ridiculous and I didn't want it to happen. But, the more I thought about it the better it sounded. I thought it would be good for David to be able to have a poker area. Especially since I prefer (forbid) multiple cigar smoking intoxicatedish men to let loose in my living room or any other room in my house. Well, post Ike. The garage was trashed. A big MESS! And then I changed jobs and had all of my 37 boxes of school stuff transferred to my new school. I found out that I would be a rotating teacher and wouldn't have a room or anywhere to put my things. Well I had to take ALL of those boxes home and store them in the garage=no man cave. Well, my position changed again due to the large number of prek students yet i still don't have my own room. David and I decided that i would bring all of my stuff back to school regardless of the room situation. So being the good husband that he is he loaded and unloaded all of my boxes. He was so happy to have his garage back. This was almost two weeks ago. Well tonight he is hosting poker night in his cave. A torch is burning in the front yard to symbolize the beginning of the cave. FYI he is sporting his velour puma suit for good luck!

Happy Birthday Papa!!
Happy Birthday to the best baby daddy in the whole wide world. I am so lucky to have such an unbelievable husband and father for my daughter and pets. He is a truly wonderful, loving, supportive and giving man. He teaches me many things about slowing down and taking things in. He is able to make sense of many things that I can't. He ALWAYS figures out a solution to things that I think there is no solution for. He is my balance. He shows me a different more laid back perspective. It is amazing because the things that I love most about him also are the things that drive me the most crazy! I love and adore you daddy! David has the unfortunate birthday of December 26th. Everyone is worn and out and wound down from Christmas! We still celebrate but i feel like we should change the date. Pics to follow!

With or Without Bono

Well one of my concert dreams came true this week. I really wanted to get to see U2 when they came to H-Town. David and I worked hard on getting the tickets when they went on sale. We got good seats. We were excited about this date night in particular. Daddy picked me up from Meemom's for our date. Unfortunately, it took almost 2 hours to get to H-Town. The traffic was terrible, so we missed meeting up for cocktails preshow. We grabbed a quick turk sand at Texadelphia and headed to Reliant. We payed $20 to park in a Reliant lot where no one was directing traffic. There were basically no spots left. David was getting hot quickly and began crazy talking the people that worked there. We finally settled for parking illegally to get to the show.
U2 opened up with a couple of new songs and I was a little stressed. Feeling old and nervous, I waited impatiently. During my waiting Bono picked up a girl from out of the crowd and danced with her and allowed her to stay on stage for the whole song. Ummm..hello Bono did you not get the memo. I don't love the drummer anymore. He didn't age near as well as you did. I heart you. I wanted to be the girl on the stage. Oh well. I didn't have to wait long, they rocked the whole damn stadium. The roof was open and the stage set up was an over the top space ship. It was all pretty cool. David and I were so excited to meet up with Kristin and Sean at the show. We have been missing them so much! It was short but always sweet to see them. Casey and Rob came to sit with us as well. We all had an amazing time. Thanks for the pictures Kristin. I got none of my own. Until next time Bono.

Love Your Puppies

this picture is pre-ike but it was the only one i had of all my puppies together (including buddy the budman catdog.)
David and I got Elle down to sleep and began watching Marley and Me. I had heard about the book but have not read it. I thought that the acting was actually pretty good. The story was well written. I liked the movie and then...... Well the last 20 minutes of the movie were spent with me basically hyperventilating. I looked to David for support and he was falling apart as well. Let me add if you saw this movie and didn't cry, I think that you are without a heart. Sorry but I mean really, you are just down right a spineless animal hater. So, after the movie ended David and I tried to pull ourselves together. We called the dogs to have a family spooning session on the living room floor. We wanted them to know how much we loved them. We then asked them to come sleep with us. They didn't completely trust the situation but went for it anyway. Got to love the baby dogs. They ALWAYS love you.

david rocks

I have to say i was a little disappointed that my baby daddy didn't have my birthday present waiting for me. I know we had talked about getting me the new cell phone that i wanted for my birthday but we hadn't done it. I guess I expected him to have my new phone on my birthday with a pretty bow wrapped around it. Well, it didn't happen. Instead I woke up and went to my first day of work. David has always given amazing, well planned and thoughtful gifts. I mean even when we were in high school. So when I came up empty handed I was very sad.
I received a couple of text messages at school saying
"Your present has arrived and it is big!"
when i asked what it is . He simply told me that i had to wait and see and then when i begged. he said that i would use it every day and i have wanted it my whole life. Well he was right. Thank you so much David! You rock and you are still an unbelievable gift giver. You are more than forgiven!! I LOVE MY NEW< BEAUTIFUL BED! It is exactly what I have wanted for so long.!
WELL.. I came home last Thursday to see this....

we heart target
I asked David to return some stuff to Target. He returned the wrong bag of stuff. This bag included Halloween shirts for my godsons, some clothes for Elle and a few other outfits from baby gap and pottery barn, a used paci, one pink croc, and s a bunch of stuff that I needed for school TOMORROW and a hairbow. David said they wouldn't take this stuff back. Really? I wonder why? Because it was all the stuff that I brought in from the car and needed. The OTHER bag full of Target stuff is that I needed to go back. Good effort. maybe i have one too many target bags.

which reminds me....
Several months back Onion (pre pregnancy), Liz D and I went to happy hour. This was probably my first happy hour since before i got preggo. David thought it would be great for me to get out and go. I had David and Elle drop me off so that I wouldn't have to drive home. I am seriously out of practice and am a really cheap date these days. So when David does come get me, he walks into the bar with elle is his arms. He makes a bee line for our table and slams his hand down in the middle of the table. Speaking very loudly he proceeds to say that he and the baby have been looking everywhere for me. And that this whole drinking thing is getting out of hand. I need to choose either the bars or my family and choose it now. Well at this point everyone int he bar is staring at us. Liz and Onion are laughing and I am bright red. Everyone thinks he is serious...until he parks his butt on the bar stool next to us and has a cocktail with us. Pootie stuck to her milk. Daddy loves to embarrass mommy and is pretty witty about it sometimes.
