Mermaids

Elle has really taken off with her swimming. She is a little mermaid girl and proud of it. She kicks and moves or flails her arms to bring her back to the side of the pol or get her from person to person. She prefers to swim the lazy river at Schlitterbahn. She is wearing a puddle jumper the whole time, which makes all of this possible! She even floats on her back, all by herself.
Lily hasnt' gotten into the pool yet but loves her bath time. She turned two months old yesterday. She had to get 3 shots which made for a long day for her. She just didn't feel to well after that. She is weighing in at a little more than 12 pounds and quite the eater. She is full of smiles and coos and all things sweet and cute. She is just a happy happy girl. She is the perfect fit to our family of four.
Got to run, our adventure today will be storytime at the library and signing up for the summer reading program. IT IS GOING TO RAIN TODAY, SUPPOSEDLY! Got to dress and feed my girls.

Lily Grace and Frances Isabelle

We are all adjusting pretty well. Things really are easier the second time around for the most part. You know what to expect and you feel more confident. Not to mention we kidnapped Meemom for a week. Lily was born on a Tuesday and we came home to a clean house on Thursday late afternoon (Thanks Nivea). After a pit stop to Meemom's house to pick up Big Sista Elle, we headed home as a family.
Lily had to go back to the doctor 4 days in a row for a heal stick to check bilirubin levels. Our little California girl is blonde, blue eyed and looked like she had spent the night in a tanning bed with self tanner on. Everyday her levels were too high and we had to go back again for the next day. David and i put her portacrib in the window and let her nap there for man hours. I set my alarm clock on the phone to wake up every two hours and force her to eat 2-3 ounces. Not cool but needed her to poop out all that bilirubin! Finally we got clearance!
Elle is super sweet and gentle with her baby but has her moments. She gets frustrated if she wants to be held and I am nursing the baby. She doesn't understand why I can't put the baby down and pick her up. She will figure it out. David and I couldn't be happier with our girls. So hard to believe we are a family of four now. So hard to imagine stopping here. I guess we will wait and see if our family will continue to grow..... Thanks for all of the well wishes and prayers!

Terrible Twos and Twenty Two Weeks

Meemom, Elle and I went up to Houston to our favorite baby store Doodles to hit up their post Christmas sale and see what we could score. Elle said she wanted to go and that she would be a good girl. Well, as soon as we got to the store all hell broke loose. She was everything but good. She wanted to only play with all of the toys and absolutely refused to let me look at anything; regardless of what I tried to bribe or threaten her with. We had an entire day of shopping planned and had to call it quits as soon as we could get out of Doodles. Meemom found some wonderful things for Miss Lily Grace and Elle (even though she really deserved only time out). We didn't even get to eat lunch. Only a Jamba Juice and then home. As soon as we hit Jamba Juice Elle was asleep. Maybe next time she will stay with Daddy. What happened to my little shopper girl? David and i decided that at least initially Elle and Lily will share a room so we have been working hard to organize and down size on whatever we can so that Lily might have something of her own in that room. I go to the doctor today for my checkup. I am 22 weeks and some change. I truly feel good. Maybe a little tired here and there but it goes with the job and having a two year old. I am blessed with an amazing family and friends who take wonderful care of me. Hard to believe there are only 124 days until we meet this sweet little girl. Time is a ticking. I remember why I liked being pregnant. We will get to see Lily again on the 28th and I will post some ultrasound pics then. francie
