Laissez les bons temps rouler

We are a family that LOVES Mardi Gras. You grow to love it in a different way when it includes kids (and a very sober way when you are pregnant). Regardless we love it. I pulled out last years beads and put them in a glass bowl for a quick, effortless centerpiece. Elle loves the beads! We mentally prepared her (assuming she doesn't recall it from last year) all week about the parade. The fire trucks, horses, music, floats and BEADS!! By Wednesday she was clapping and holding her hands in the air screaming beads. Too cute.
Friends of ours got a room at Gaidos, which is an excellent place for parade watching. We have watched the parade from their for several years now and it is so convienent. A relatively clean bathroom, a place to sit and put your pregnant feet up, pizza, tortellini salad a la EK, good friends, and a place to shelter your child who is all of the sudden petrified of fireworks. It worked out beautifully. Now Elle is super ready for next weekend-a true pro. The only thing that will be missing are the NJ Buerglers. I am more sad than is healthy about that.
Uncle Andy lives on 25th street and is ahving a HUGE blow out this year for the Momus parade. Once again, we will have a bathroom etc. Makes things so much more convienent. We have lots of family on the floats again this year so we are hoping to score lots of good beads. Wish us luck. Happy Mardi Gras. Pics of last weekend to come in next post. Hopefully we will get good pics of this weekend as well.

Sista on the move

Meemom has been teaching Elle how to ride her tricycle this week. Yesterday, Elle was successful. She is such a big girl. Whenever I tell her that she is my big baby girl. She says big and shows me two fingers and then quickly reminds me that Baby Hudson and all other babies, in including Lily are only one. Too cute. I keep reminding her that she will always be Momma's baby. Most of the time she hugs, kisses and pats me. Sometimes she says that she is Daddy or Meemom's. Love her;)

Sweetness

Apparently Baby Lily loves sweet tea. I have never been a fan until I got pregnant this time. I can't stop. It is out of hand. McCallisters deli has the absolute BEST ever. We are buying it by the gallon and I am sucking it down. I officially love sweet tea.

She's coming down

Here is a picture of the flagship hotel. It is currently being torn down. More than two years after Ike. A pleasure pier will replace it. It has been an eyesore since the storm. Yet it is very weird to think about it not being there

27 months old and 28 weeks pregnant

Dear Elle,

You are 27 months old. Like I say every month I really can't believe it. You continue to grow and change every day. You amaze me with your knowledge. You really listen to everything that is said and remember it. Your memory is truly unbelievable. You remember things from almost a year ago and continue to refer to them. You have reminded Meemom, Dad and myself of things that we have forgotten. You love to remind us about going on an airplane to see Aunt Micky. You remind Daddy about feeding the horses at Mickeys house as well. This was 7 months ago. You are OBSESSED with Clifford! You love to play with little people stuff and RED cars. You are a master puzzle girl. You love to read books and to be read to. Playing at the park with your Daddy is your all time favorite past time. (Especially when he takes you to the park on his bike) You want to be outside every single day for as long as possible. You still love going to the beach and on walks every day. You are a little person with a big personality! You are starting to be able to rationalize things a little bit better. On the flip side, you have truly mastered temper tantrums and put on quite a show. You are well aware of what time out is at this point. You serve your two minutes and always confirm that you understand why you were there and give us all hugs and kisses. I think it works. You seem to really understand that there is a growing baby, Lily Grace, in my belly. Whenever you talk about your baby or a baby animal your voice changes into a soft higher pitched voice that is so cute. You share toys and food with Mommy's tummy. I sure hope you like your sister once she gets here. You love to help out so I think you will be a great big sis. Although, you still boldly say that you will NOT be sharing your Daddy or your Meemom with Lily. Not really sure how that will work. Elle you have changed our lives forever in the most profound and exciting way ever. We are so lucky that you are ours, even when you are sucking the patience out of us rapidly. You are a smart, beautiful, sweet, loving and hilarious child. You have stolen all of our hearts. We adore you.
Love,
mama

I am officially 28 weeks tomorrow. This means I am in the last trimester!
By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world. I am happy to be entering the third trimester/3rd trimester. I am growing steadily and still feel pretty well. I am not sleeping well due to the fact that someone is either dancing or jumping on my bladder. I wake up about every two hours. Aside from my back, legs and feet I feel ok. I will take my glucose test on Friday. I will have my next and probably last ultrasound on April 1st at 34 weeks. I will be excited to see how much Lily Grace has grown. I begin seeing the doctor every two weeks for now until April. Starting in April I will see the doc every week until the due date.
We are trying to get prepared. Thanks to Meemom Lily already has some super cute clothes, accessories and toys that are just her own. Thanks to Elle (and Meemom again) Lily has lots of hand me downs available. Although the seasonal thing will be way off. Elle born in November and Lily in May. We are researching double strollers and need to get another mattress and breast pump and I think we will be all set with stuff. This pregnancy has felt a little different. I definitely feel preggo but both David and Meemom said it feels a little less real this time. I think it is because Elle is here and keeps us so busy.
Although, we all are so excited about Lily Grace! 85 more days

Happy Valentines Day!!

Happy Valentine's Day

Well 18 years ago today I received an unbelievably beautiful love note from my husband that he read to me. The sweetness with the note ended there. He kept it. I guess he didn't want any proof of the fact that he could be that sweet. 18 years ago today I tried to pass off my mom's famous sugar heart cookies with her famous icing as my own. I won David!!
Fast forward 18 years and here we are. Meemom made me her famous heart cookies which I am hoarding and don't want to share AT ALL! David planned a picnic for him, myself, Elle and my mom across the street (at a playground) for my lunch break. That way Elle could play while we eat and he could have lunch with his 3 favorite girls. He almost made me cry with that sweet, sweet idea.
So much has changed in 18 years yet not the important stuff. My husband is still amazing. My heart still skips a beat when I see him. I am a very, very lucky girl to have found the love of my life so young. I am 34 years old and him been with him for 18 years. You do the math. That is more than half of my life. More time with him than without. Our lives are so intertwined. We have grown together. It is a truly beautiful thing. Do we have our ups and downs? Absolutely!! I'll be the first to tell you that. Yet, nothing can ever change what we do have. Our love, our friendship, our commitment to each other.
We have graduated from high school and college. We lived apart the whole time we were in college. Trips to and from Lubbock and Austin. Wow, I don't miss those days. We did a lot of growing/changing as individuals. DMB moved to Austin when he graduated from college. We had the time of our lives. We decided to "live in sin" and make sure we were ready for the next step. Those were some of the best years. Just the boy and I. No stress in our lives. Living the ATX life. Blues shows on a Tuesday night, Gourds shows at Jovitas, Migas and Fajitas at Trudy's with Mark every Sunday. In the summer of 2003 we moved to Htown so that David could go to law school. I got a teaching job in Galveston and we began a new stage in our lives. In 2004 we got married. January of 2006 we moved to Galveston and started another new stage in our lives. Young professionals, we bought a house and began creating our life here. In 2008 Elle was born and our lives changed forever. We created a person. We started our family. In May, Lily will be born. So much has happened in the past 18 years and there is NO ONE else on this planet that I would want to have done this with NO ONE!! I can't wait to see what the future holds for my boy and I! Happy Valentine's Day David- I love you

February Flurries

School is letting out early today and cancelled tomorrow because it is supposed to SNOW in Galveston. Did you hear me???? Snow! Sure hope it is snow and not ice! Elle is doing great and talking away. Every day she is saying something new! Still not too many word combinations but tons of words. She is learning new things every day and loves to share them. She also loves to sing and sounds like I do when I sing (beautiful of course). Lily is just a growing growing growing. I still feel pretty good. Just a little tired and BIG. Hard to get up and down off the floor all day at work. Can't believe I am 26 weeks on Saturday! Only 100 days left until my due date!! Wow. Now I know the last 60 plus days drag but I will try to be patient. Lupe turned 7 yesterday which is also so difficult to believe! Time flies when you are having fun!
