No Dancing on the Poles

I saw David and Elle at the park on the way home from my faculty meeting. It is their daily father-daughter ritual. Elle is a total monkey. She is amazingly fast and fearless. She is more coordinated than most of my pre-k students. Her daddy allows her to do some of the things at the park that we don't allow our class to do. As Elle was running around a poll, her Daddy told her "Elle we talked about this, no dancing on the pole" . WTF?? I just had to laugh. Elle responded "Daddy/honey" in her you are so silly (or stupid) voice. I just adore these two.

Nesting

My amazing husband has been worked over by my nesting. I am ready to have EVERYTHING done and in order. That is the story of my life. Yesterday when I gave him the tasks that i wanted him to complete he smiled and said OK. He brought me a cup of coffee in bed and got Elle all set up. We got the port of crib set up for Lily in our room. We organized Elle/Lily's room. He got all the boxes of baby clothes down from the attic for me to go through. (The same boxes that he and Bain just put up there a couple of months ago) Meemom helped. It took quite a while because we have quite a few clothes, shoes and accessories. I guess we really like to shop for Elle. There is a memory that goes with almost every piece of clothing that i pulled out. (At least the ones that she wore at least once). So it was an emotional thing to do for me. I seem to remember who gave her each outfit and where she wore it. Crazy memory of mine. My baby is so big now. The seasons are off so a lot of the newborn stuff won't work. I packed it back up in a box labeled newborn until we decide if we are having more babies or not. Boy will that be an emotional thing whenever it is time to pack up baby stuff for good. After a while I hear him singing a catchy little tune. "Mommy is nesting and whipping every one's a**, boy I sure hope that this ends fast".
We need a couple of more bolts to raise crib mattress up to the top since we had to add something to make the crib not raise up and down. That will get taken care of today and then I can put the bedding on :) We have almost everything done. Now, I just need to pack a bag for Lily and I guess myself for the hospital and maybe then I will feel like we are ready or perhaps just come up with a new list....
i have my 2 week check up this afternoon. I am 33 weeks and 2 days. I am not sure if it is too early to begin talking to my doctor about wanting her to induce me at 39 weeks. I don't want to have to worry about driving 40 minutes to the hospital after figuring out what to do with Elle. I really want my mom and David to be there with me and i would really like for my doctor to be the one to deliver me. I know it is a lot of likes.... I have also been having A LOT of those "practice" contractions. Many of them take my breath away and make me stop what i am doing. If I bend over it is NOT that easy to get up. I still have 6 weeks to go here Lily. Work with me. Good news is that my feet aren't swelling like they did with Elle. 47 days left until the due date.

Happy Birthday Uncle Nonny

In honor of Uncle Nonny's 38th birthday we headed to Yamato's last night for an unbelievable dinner. They never fail to amaze me with their food. Elle was a little wound up so it was a good thing we were in the front room (hibachi table) by ourselves! When the chef came and made a cute smiley face with the oil and lit it on fire, Elle screamed and shook in fear! Poor baby!! She was absolutely PETRIFIED. So, we took turns walking her until he was done cooking. She just kept saying HOT and crying! My mom thinks that maybe she is still thinking about last weeekend when she brushed her hand against the grill and the grill was hot :( Poor pootes has a little burn on the top of her hand. Once he was done cooking she was ok. She grubbed on shrimp, fillet and rice.

Meemom and Elle made Donny a birthday cake yesterday. After dinner we headed to Meemom's house for ice cream and cake. Elle "helped" Donny blow out the candles and then proceeded to bathe in cake and ice cream.

We all can't believe that Donny is 38. It just doesn't seem right! Here's to the most amazing year ever for Uncle Donny! We love you!

One foot, two feet, left foot, right foot

Please tell me that my body is dragging so badly because I am just getting used to no more Spring Break (which means no more sleeping till 8 and taking a 2 hour nap). Remind my body that I have 7 more weeks (and some change) of being preggo. I can't slow down this much. My job and my daughter will not allow it!

Top 10- I will never ____ when I have kids

You will totally judge me after you read this... Go ahead. i deserve it. David and I were talking about this the other night. So many times I started a sentence with "Babe, when we have kids we will never____. Don't you agree?" Some of this stemmed from being a teacher. The other part came from not having my own children yet. Here we go:

10. Spoil her rotten
9. Pick battles (I was supposed to be the benevolent dictator)
8. Threaten her with Santa Claus
7. Threaten to spank
6. Let her eat/drink sugar
5. Nurse for longer than a year (to be more specific 20 months)
4. Reward her with treats
3. Co-sleep
2. Negotiate with her like I am at UN meeting
1. Spoil her rotten

The reality is I think we are pretty good parents. My girl is as sweet as sugar and a happy camper MOST of the time. We have our moments but I guess that is what it is all about. I hope that Lily Grace will be as happy as a girl.

Spring Break 2011

I feel especially lucky that I get a Spring Break yearly! It keeps me young. It always seems to come at just the right time. The time when the kids are so entirely crazy that you might really go crazy. For me there was so much going on the weeks leading up to Spring Break that I was wound super tight and so stressed. This time off and the resolution to most of these stressors (gestational diabetes test, ESL test, maternity leave approval and the list goes on). We have had a great time on the island! Elle goes to the park on a daily basis with her Daddy. Here are the cliff notes since my memory was stolen by my belly (at least that is what I am blaming it on
)

Friday-I got out of school and we had family dinner at Mario's. Good people, good food what else can I say?

Saturday--relaxing and napping

Sunday- chilling

Monday- Dr. appointment, shopping ALL DAY LONG with MEEMOM! Lunch, fun and lots of business handled

Tuesday- Strand with the family. Tried out the Black Pearl and took Elle to La Kings

Wednesday- Cleaning out closets and then Dinner Date at Paco's with the hubby (thanks Meemom). Plantain encrusted snapper with rasberry chipotle sauce and topped with crabmeat and bread pudding for desert! BEST FOOD EVER

Thursday- local errands with Meemom, long nap with the girl and spring cleaning. at bedtime Elle requested a family kiss (where mommy, daddy and elle all kiss and hug at the same time. she has never requested this- David and I were so warm and fuzzy- fair to say I have the sweetest girl ever)

Friday-Wildlife Park with the Pootster, Daddy and Meemom. Pre registered at the hospital.

Saturday-We are going to Cody and Cherie's Wedding and Grandmommy is coming to watch Elle (Thanks Grandmommy)

I am sad that it is almost over!!! I am not ready but it has been a great week.

31 weeks and stuff

I had my doc appointment on Monday (right after Lily was 31 weeks). My doctor is out of town so I saw the PA. She gave me great news. My blood work for the fifth disease test was fine. Also I PASSED THE TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, DISGUSTING 3 HOUR GLUCOSE TEST. I was pretty devastated when they told me my first screening was a 132 and they want it to be a 130. The 3 hour test is an ass whip. You have to fast the night before. When you get there they take a fasting blood sample. Then you drink TWICE as much of the drink as you do during the one hour, wait an hour and have another blood draw. And then another after 2 hours and then another after 3 hours. WTF. So, needless to say you feel pretty crazy when it is all done. I have a couple of friends that didn't pass the test and it sounds like a big struggle that I really didn't want to deal with. I am so thankful I don't have to!! After the doctor appointment, meemom and i went shopping. I finally convinced her to buy some clothes for herself! She is skinny mini and all of her clothes keep falling off of her. We ate at the fanciest Luby's known to man (near the Galleria).By the way, as terrible as it is, my belly won't fit into some booths at restraunts. I mean seriously! We then picked up some shoes for Elle and went shopping. We got so much done! We got Lily a mattress, me a new breast pump, and lots of little things we needed. Just in case. We lined up Casey in case I go into labor unplanned or in the middle of the night. We need to finalize the rest of the plan for Elle. Next ultrasound is Friday, April 1, 2011.

FYI:How your baby's growing:
This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.

Spring Break Post to come soon! 59 days left until Lily Grace's due date!

Happy Birthday Baby Bruce!

Busy Busy Busy!

Wednesday I had to take the certification test for ESL and I have to admit it was really hard. I have never thought any of the certification tests were difficult but this one was. Hope I passed. Today is Thursday and the kids and I have some serious SPRING FEVER. We have Pre-K night tonight and school tomorrow and then Spring Break. How many of you get Spring Break off from your job? Pretty awesome right. I will have my summative conference with my principal today to finalize my annual evaluation. I feel pretty good about it. My kids are really ready for Kindergarten next year. I am nervous about talking to her about my time off. I want to take the week before the baby is due and then the first 6 weeks of school off and I hope that she allows me to do so. It is so hard to leave babies! It is still hard for me to leave Elle sometimes and she is 2 and loves being at Meemom's house. Speaking of Elle she got all signed up for preschool. She is going to go Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9-12. I hope she will like it. She will be attending Moody, which is where I also went. That way she will have other kids her age to play with a few times a week. Meemom and I are nervous. Daddy wants someone to go sit with her at school and protect her. Apparently, we are those parents.
I can't wait until next week. We already have a lot on the agenda: double stroller, breast pump, dr appt., spring cleaning, getting stuff ready, pre registering at the hospital, bayou wildlife park, maybe children's museum or zoo or perhaps moody gardens. Time flies when you are having fun! After Spring Break i will only work for another 6 weeks and then Lily will almost be here.

Continued...Today is Friday! Spring Break is here. Summative conference was great and my awesome principal agreed to let me have that time off. ALSO I PASSED THE ESL TEST. Kind of a miracle. Didn't really think I was going to woo hoo. Spring Break 2011!

March Madness

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss and Texas!I am going to my bi monthly appointment this afternoon. I should get results to my gestational diabetes, fifth disease and chicken pox. WE are sitting right at 29 weeks and 4 days! Wish me luck for a clean bill of health. I am also fighting four kids with ring worm. I am armed with a can of lysol, and sanitizer. Hope I win. We are geared up for Mardi Gras this weekend. I think Elle will be a pro by then. Elle will get to see two out of three of her godparents. Will and hopefully Clare will join us. WE will really miss Catherine and family. I am beginning to have withdraws.
Samanthat is a HOSS. She is HUGE. I will take a picture of her and post it. You won't believe it. One more week until spring break and 73 more days until Lily Grace is due.

True confession: I could not be any happier that my doc had to reschedule my appointment for today (instead of Monday). It is half price fajitas at Pappasitos! The whole Howell/Buergler family is meeting for dinner after my appointment. Have I mentioned lately how much my family rocks. How accomodating they are???? David and I selfishly wanted my appointments to be on Wednesday for theis very reason! I even inquired about it, but normally my doc only sees ob patients on Monday and Tuesday. Also, for dinner last night I had a few bites of ice cream. That is all.
